Media Viability Talks 2023 Edition: “AI, The Future of Journalism and Media Viability” What I said

My Presentation MVTalks 2023 Edition “AI, The Future of Journalism and Media Viability”

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming journalism in many ways, from automated news writing to personalized content recommendations. While some journalists fear that AI will replace human reporters, others see AI as a tool that can enhance the work of journalists and improve the quality of news.

AI can help journalists in a variety of ways, such as automating tedious tasks like transcription, translation, and fact-checking. AI algorithms can also analyze large datasets and identify patterns, enabling journalists to uncover stories that might have gone unnoticed otherwise. AI-powered chatbots can interact with readers and answer questions, providing a new level of engagement between journalists and their audience.

However, the increasing use of AI in journalism raises important ethical questions, such as the need for transparency, accountability, and fairness. Journalists must ensure that AI systems are designed to minimize bias and that they are transparent about the use of AI in their reporting. Additionally, journalists must consider the impact of AI on employment, as automated systems could potentially replace human journalists.

Despite these challenges, AI presents an opportunity for journalists to work more efficiently and effectively, enabling them to focus on more high-value tasks like investigative reporting and analysis. By embracing AI and leveraging its capabilities, journalists can enhance the quality of their reporting and improve media viability while preserving the values and ethics of journalism.

On 14th April, Media Challenge Initiative hosted the last series of Media Viability Talks: “AI, The Future of Journalism and Media Viability” by Tracy Kansime and Moderated by RAYMOND MUJUNI at Media Challenge Initiative’s Media Hub
